Cycle count
Counting a small part of the stock on a schedule instead of everything at once, so all of it gets checked without closing.
A full count means closing the shop or warehouse for a day. A cycle count spreads it out: a few shelves or items each day or week, chosen so that every item is counted every few weeks or months. The most valuable items (the A items of an ABC analysis) are counted most often.
Each count is compared with the records, and the difference is corrected and, ideally, explained. Small, frequent counts catch errors while they're still easy to trace. In Binhop a count sets the stock to what's on the shelf, keeps the change in History with Undo, and can say why it was off.
