ABC analysis
Sorting items into A, B and C by how much they bring in, to give most attention to the few that matter most.
In most businesses a small share of the items makes most of the sales. ABC analysis ranks items by their yearly sales value and splits them: A items make roughly the first 80% of the value (often about 20% of the items), B the next 15% and C the long tail.
The classes decide where effort goes: A items get closer stock levels, more frequent counts and closer follow-up with suppliers; C items can be ordered in bulk and checked less often. Redo it every few months, since items move between classes.
