When a spreadsheet is enough
If one person updates the stock once a day and nothing sells fast, a spreadsheet works fine, and the free template is a good start. It starts to break when several people change it at once, when you want to scan barcodes, when nobody can say who changed a number, or when you only find out something ran out because a customer asks for it.

Questions
Is Binhop really free?
Yes, up to 30 items, with every feature and any number of people. Pro, for more items and workspaces, is $29 a month or $149 a year.
Can I keep using Excel?
Yes. Binhop exports your items to Excel or CSV whenever you want, with the same columns it imports.
Do my formulas and formatting come across?
No, only the values: names, codes, units, prices, quantities and alert levels. In Binhop the stock is worked out from what's sold, received and counted, so it needs no formulas.
